"The Art of Poverty" Project

"The Art of Poverty" is a project designed by Felicia Brooks to care for the poor through an artistic masterpiece based on true stories of timely provision and the value of art education. The Art of Poverty is an interactive painting in watercolor on large-scale, detailed, wood paneling using symbolic elements like gold (wealth/ value), water (basic necessity), and LED lights (power/reveal) to illuminate the joy that comes when the needs of poor are met, for the giver and receiver. The work of art will include a coded tablet with an interactive Makey Makey component. Alongside the artwork, 3 free workshops will be offered to teach a STEAM lesson with Chibitronics paper circuits geared toward supporting single mothers through teaching them how to light up an LED on their joy of motherhood despite it's many challenges, namely poverty.
